I got into this debate with my husband - I bought a few pieces of albeit expensive produce, bread, and cheese and called it my groceries for the week... he who needs to eat significantly more than I do was appauled that I would be willing to spend on so few items. But throughout the week he's been eating my ripe fruit and the fresh baked bread I bought (whoever said living with men was more expensive for women had that right lol) and he came back yesterday and told me he took it back because he's been more full off of the good stuff than his can of ultraprocessed $2 soup

unfortunately, it is a priviledge that should be a right, to eat well and from the earth... I get super heated about this too ugh!

Not only do people struggle to make ends meet, including in terms of groceries, but a lot of those lower income earners and people of color specifically live in “food deserts”. Even if they would like to have fresh produce every once in a while, they won’t have access to it rightly available.
